Creating Your Professional Identity is a new course designed to consider three areas in a person’s professional life:

  1. You: Tools to become more self-aware
  2. You and Others: Tools to relate well to others
  3. You Up Front: Tools to put your best foot forward

You: Tools to become more self-aware
In the first segment, participants are asked to discover and define who they hope to be as a professional. We explore the notion that we can “behave our way there”, with every moment as an opportunity to create our professional identity. This self-awareness activity also includes a personal inventory to determine work style preferences.

You and Others: Tools to relate well to others
The next segment teaches several, everyday communication skills that foster healthy professional relationships. We lead learners through such topics as perception checking, speaking to be understood, and listening to understand.

You Up Front: Tools to put your best foot forward
Finally, in the third segment, we explore professional opportunities to more formally present ourselves – most notably, professional presentations and business meetings. Participants will learn best practices and will practice addressing the group as well as managing conversations in meetings.
